Dream Drives Owners Club
Six co-owners. One extraordinary car.
Four weeks a year, yours once we’re live. We handle everything else.
We are currently building the first co-ownership group — the exact vehicle is agreed with members before purchase.
No commitment is required at this stage.
The Concept
Six like-minded co-owners will jointly own an extraordinary car through a private New Zealand company. We will manage it completely — you just turn up and drive. No car has been purchased yet; we are building the group first.
01
Join as a co-owner
When the group is complete, contribute your 1/6 share alongside five others into a solicitor’s trust account. Funds only release once all six are confirmed. Simple and secure.
02
We buy the car
Dream Drives will source the agreed vehicle with the group and handle registration, insurance, storage, and every detail you don’t want to think about.
03
Four weeks a year, yours
Each co-owner will get 28 days of personal use annually — the equivalent of your entire annual leave, in the club car. Bookings via app — coming soon once the first car is live. Peak days will rotate fairly each year.
04
Earn when you’re not driving
On days you haven’t booked, the car will be available to vetted Dream Drives members at premium hire rates. Your 1/6 share of that income will be distributed quarterly — and is designed to often cover your annual costs entirely.

From Adam
“Grace and I have spent years putting people behind the wheel of extraordinary cars on the South Island. The Owners Club is the next step — for six people who want more than a weekend hire: real co-ownership of an extraordinary car together. Four weeks a year when we’re live. We handle everything. We’re building the group now and looking for the right five people to join us.”

Questions
Through the Dream Drives app. Once you're a confirmed co-owner and the first car is on the road, you'll get access to the booking calendar. Bookings via app — coming soon until then. You will be able to hold two forward bookings at any time and make last-minute bookings when the car is available. Peak periods — Christmas, Easter, and school holidays — are allocated by a rotating priority system agreed upfront before signing.
Six co-owners each taking 28 days is 168 owner-days total — leaving nearly 200 days for commercial hire and maintenance. That hire income is designed to flow back to you, so your 28 days in the car will often end up costing close to nothing. It's a deliberate balance between personal access and making the numbers work in your favour once the programme is live.
No. This is a private co-ownership arrangement between individuals, governed by a Co-Ownership Agreement drafted by a New Zealand commercial lawyer. You jointly own a vehicle through a NZ limited company. Dream Drives acts as the appointed management operator under a separate agreement. It is not a managed investment scheme.
When six co-owners are identified, each party pays their approximately $57,500 contribution into a solicitor's trust account. Funds only release to purchase the vehicle once all six payments are received. If the deal does not proceed for any reason, all contributions are returned in full.
The Co-Ownership Agreement includes a right of first refusal — remaining co-owners get 30 days to purchase your share at a pre-agreed fair value before it can be offered externally. A minimum 12-month hold period applies. Dream Drives can also assist in finding a buyer.
Peak weeks (Christmas, New Year, Easter, school holidays) are defined upfront in the agreement. Year 1 allocation is drawn randomly. The priority order rotates annually. No ambiguity, no disputes.
Each co-owner pays approximately $400 per month, covering their 1/6 share of insurance, maintenance, tyres, storage, and the Dream Drives management fee. Member hire income is expected to offset a significant portion of this cost once bookings are open.
Yes — personal use is tiered in a straightforward way. You have 5,000 km included per year — enough for real road trips without feeling like you are driving a lease car. Above that, overage is charged at $1.50 per km on a pay-as-you-go basis; there is no hard cap. Spread across your 28 days, 5,000 km is about 178 km per day on average — still conservative, but it does not punish someone who wants to do one proper South Island loop.
The real reason for a kilometre allowance is not to restrict owners; it is to protect the group if one co-owner were to clock something like 15,000 km in a year and burn through tyres and servicing that everyone shares the cost of. A 3,000 km allowance does not really solve that problem differently from 5,000 km — both sit well below abusive territory — whereas 8,000 km is where you start to worry about wear. Commercial hire kilometres are tracked separately by Dream Drives and do not affect your personal allowance. Full detail is set out in the Co-Ownership Agreement.
No. The vehicle is managed as a road car in this programme — track days and circuit use are not permitted under the Co-Ownership Agreement. This protects the vehicle's condition, keeps insurance straightforward for all co-owners, and preserves resale value for the group.
Seventy percent of commercial hire revenue is distributed equally among the six co-owners quarterly (your 1/6 of that pool). Thirty percent is retained by Dream Drives as the management operator. All hire drivers are vetted before accessing the vehicle.
Every handover is documented with a photographic condition report managed by Dream Drives. The co-owner in possession at the time of any damage is responsible for the insurance excess. Dream Drives handles all claims on behalf of the ownership group.
Dream Drives is operated by Adam and Grace, based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Rated 5.0 on Google across 24 reviews, we specialise in premium South Island road trip experiences. The Owners Club is for people who want more than a one-off trip — who want the car to be genuinely theirs as co-owners.
